Activities
Academic Support
Both Club locations offer academic support during the school year, providing daily homework help, tutoring and literacy skill enhancement programs.  Club staff and volunteers receive training to help youth stay on task, develop better study skills, and do better in school.  Club members are rewarded for regular attendance in the homework club and prizes are given to those who can document letter-grade improvements in test scores and report cards.

Recreation
The recreational program is geared to ensure that activities are diverse and attractive to members.  The Club offers an array of activities that cover the five core program categories identified as being the most beneficial to youth by our national organization, Boys & Girls Clubs of America.  Those core program categories are:

1.      Character and Leadership Development

2.      The Arts

3.       Education and Career Development

4.       Sports, Fitness and Recreation,

5.       Health and Life Skills

Some of the Club’s most popular programs

Culinary Arts:  Members discover the fun of cooking and learn about kitchen safety, proper    etiquette, health and nutrition.

Triple Play:  Structured physical activities and athletics that teach sportsmanship and the value of teamwork.  Members learn the fundamentals of basketball, soccer, football and baseball.

Mad Science:   An innovative way for members to learn about science.  In each session, the “Mad Scientist” performs a scientific principal right before the children’s eyes.

Torch Club:  Helps to develop leadership qualities and teaches the importance of  community service.  Members select and perform a community volunteer project each year.

Smart Moves:  Promotes awareness of the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and teaches members various approaches to problem solving and resolving conflicts.

Kids In Control:  An eight-week program covering safety at home, at school and in the neighborhood.

Computer Technology:  Members are taught internet safety, Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Publisher,) and Digital Arts (Digital Photography, Movie Making, Music Making.)

RBI Baseball:   Sponsored by Major League Baseball,  this program is intended for youth who otherwise would not have the opportunity to play competitive baseball.
