OUR PHILOSPHY

The Angels RBI League, as a partnership of Major League Baseball, Angels Baseball and Boys & Girls Clubs Orange County Alliance, uses the games of baseball and softball to make a positive impact on the youth of Orange County.  The goal is to blend the best elements of each of these organizations to facilitate character development and to encourage positive, healthy, and active life choices.

The Angels RBI League will promote love of baseball/softball and the corresponding character traits of respect, sportsmanship, teamwork, and competition with honor.  While friendly competition will be encouraged, the Angels RBI League will discourage the “win-at-any-cost” type of competition that permeates other youth sports.

The Angels RBI League exists to provide the opportunity to play ball to youth that would not otherwise have the opportunity to play. Youth development strategies developed by Boys & Girls Clubs of America will be woven into the league experience.  Players will be required to be club members and be introduced into other club activities available to them.

THE HISTORY OF RBI

Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) was created in 1989 and formally embraced by Major League Baseball (MLB) in 1991 as a way to bring the game of baseball and softball to youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity to play.

In 1999, as a partnership between Angels Baseball and the Boys & Girls Clubs Orange County Alliance, the Angels RBI League was established not only to promote the game, but to introduce today’s youth to nationally recognized youth development programs of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America
